Follow these 5 steps in order to keep the search traffic your old site earned.

Build the new site with noindex on
The site-wide noindex switch keeps the unfinished site out of search results while you work. The menu shows a warning while it is on.
While you build

Match the URLs you can, and list the rest
Nested pages let you reproduce most old paths exactly. Put the others in a CSV with 2 columns: old path and new path.
Before the switch

Import the redirects and check the preview
The preview shows matched pages, duplicates and unmatched targets before anything is saved. Rows without a matching page can be imported as external redirects.
On launch day

Turn noindex off and publish
The sitemap updates when you publish, and breadcrumbs follow the new structure. Search engines pick up the changes over the following weeks.

Beste generates every SEO file by default. When you need something different, you can override a single part and keep the rest automatic.

Keep the defaults
If you change nothing, Beste keeps generating a correct robots.txt, sitemap, meta tags and structured data. Most sites never need these settings.
Override one part
Write your own robots.txt, turn on noindex for a staging site, or set a breadcrumb title that differs from the page title. Each override works on its own.
The rest stays automatic
A custom robots.txt leaves the sitemap on. Site-wide noindex leaves structured data on. Everything you have left alone keeps running.
